WALK for DEI - Live & Virtual
Diversity - Equity - Inclusion

Our nation is facing the uncomfortable and intolerable reality of unrelenting racial inequality. Let’s join together each day for one month and embrace the change that’s so desperately needed for our communities to heal.
Walk for DEI is a fund-raising, awareness-driving and community-building effort hosted by Denver-based Joyful Living LLC to accelerate work toward eliminating racial inequality in the US. Every day, starting July 4, 2020 and ending on August 4, 2020, we will bring our communities together to walk and talk about diversity, racial equality, and inclusion with the intention of focusing on what we can do as a society to bring us all closer together in times of struggle and pain. Walks or runs are done at your own pace and location but you will be connected to our community through the Walk for DEI Facebook Group page by logging your distance, time and location using the hashtag #IWalkforDEI. You
PARENTS AND FAMILIES - This is a great way to get your kids moving and being active towards a positive cause that is centered on treating everyone with compassion, dignity and respect!
The schedule, location, pace and distance are all up to you. Walk or run on your own time each day and help us raise money and awareness to end racial inequality in the USA. Get your family, friends and loved-ones involved and let’s organize and walk together!
For Denver area residents, we will be offering in-person, LIVE walks at various locations during the month. The goal these walks is to walk 13 miles (a nod to the Ava DuVernay film, 13th - a Netflix must-see if you haven’t already) but feel free to set your own goal. Bring your family, friends, and loved-ones - lace up those running shoes - and use the #IWalkforDEI on all of your social media platforms to raise awareness within your own community.
Specific meeting locations and contact information will be posted on the Facebook Group page days prior to the events. Bring your water bottle, snacks, face masks, and your enthusiasm for these special LIVE walks!
WHEN: Daily from July 4th - August 4th
LOCATION: You can walk or run anywhere you like - around your neighborhood, an open track, your local park, or even your treadmill. Just be sure to honor local guidelines regarding social distancing and other preventative measures surrounding COVID-19.
We will be hosting LIVE walks throughout the Denver area on designated days which will then be live-streamed via Facebook Live so you are able to join us no matter where you are located!
SHARE ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Join our Facebook Group page - Walk for DEI - where you can engage with fellow participants as well as a place to log your distance, time and location for your daily walks. Don’t forget to use #IWalkforDEI on your Instagram feeds and stories as well!
DONATIONS: To get involved at a deeper level, join in our fundraiser for Dream Corps (www.thedreamcorps.org) and donate $5, $10, $20 to help build opportunities within the Black and Brown communities around the country. To donate, please visit our Walk for DEI Go Fund Me page.
